If Fall was the season of the leather biker jacket, Spring will be the season of the super-fine leather tee. 3.1 Phillip Lim's butterscotch cropped tank won't break the bank.
innerwear as outerwear
Lady Gaga is a likely culprit, but credit for designers' new-again obsession with lingerie should probably go to John Galliano, whose Dior Couture show in July was full of 1950's underthings. He was back at it for Spring with exposed corsets, silky tap pants, and sheer paneled evening dresses.
6. makeup colors
From Donna Karan in New York to Chloé in Paris, it was a season of ivories and nudes and soft pastels, but leave it to Karl Lagerfeld to make the most of the dreamy palette. His Fendi collection was an ode to the boudoir.
You'll be seeing spots come spring—leopard spots. Everybody from Tory Burch to Giambattista Valli did them, but we loved Dolce & Gabbana's super-sexy approach to the look in drop-dead red.
clogs
Kitten heels stepped out on many a catwalk, but the real shoe news of the season was the improbable rehabilitation of the clog. With their pearls and camellias and stacked platform heels, there was nothing orthopedic about Karl Lagerfeld's witty versions at Chanel.
a scuba look
Body con isn't going anywhere, not with designers as different as Peter Dundas at Pucci and Thakoon Panichgul taking cues from sleek diving uniforms. Ohne Titel's wrapped top/tube dress/leggings combo is for the brainy sex kitten.
denim
With designers fixated on youth, it was only fitting that denim would turn up all over the runways. It was faded and frayed and undeniably luxe in Marc Jacobs' able hands at Louis Vuitton.
